BIO

Visual Artist Diana Helman was born in Mexico and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which provided her with a multicultural childhood that currently translates into vibrant colors and movement in her art.

Diana describes her work as visual prayers and as a committed Christian she brings to her art the relationship with God and how it impacts her life.

She has a BFA in Visual Communication from Catholic Pontifical University in Rio de Janeiro. She worked as a graphic designer for big brands and entrepreneurs for 20 years and this experience can be seen in her work through complex compositions and the way she can translate concepts and feelings to visual elements.

Diana has also been teaching painting and creative process classes online and in person for the last 5 years, inspiring people through her love for art.

She has exhibited widely in Brazil with additional shows in Center Maurice Ravel, in Paris, and at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. She received two awards from the Coral Springs Art Guild at the Coral Springs Museum of Art, and her work is part of private collections in the USA and Brazil.

In 2019, Diana moved from Brazil to Florida, where she currently lives and works.

Artist Statement

Like visual prayers, my paintings are about my spiritual journey. I make figurative and abstract compositions in which I seek to describe the process of transformation when heaven touches earth. I depict the relationship with God that can change directions, reveal hidden things, and dive our souls into deep changes towards a better plan- something greater than us.

I explore the versatility of acrylic paint, using diluted and thick layers, dripping paint, and splashes to achieve movement and depth. I also use stains and lines with overlapping layers of vibrant colors depicting the dynamic and joy of the spiritual life.

My paintings portray the profound within the ordinary. There is a spiritual background behind concrete moments that take up space and time; movement that takes us to another dimension.
